Tourismo-X

Adam Blair is racing in the brand new Tourismo-X championship in the Darkside Developments Audi TT.

Result: 2nd Overall in Championship (after some terrible luck!) (standings here)

  • Round 1: Silverstone

The first round at Silverstone saw us take pole position overall, which was then controversially taken away due to “exceeding track limits”.

Starting 10th in race one, the car got stuck in 1st gear off the line, making us dead last. We came back through to finish 7th overall and 2nd in class.

In race two, we started 7th and managed to win in class and finish 2nd overall (against some much more powerful Class X cars).

All things considered, a great start to the championship.

Pole lap (which was later disqualified) here:

  • Round 2: Anglesea

Gearbox problems in Qualifying meant we started 11th. Got up to 2nd position before the gearbox again let us down, meaning we finished 6th overall.

Ryan kindly donated his car to Adam for the 2nd race and we won by 11.7 seconds, despite starting from 10th on the grid.

You can see the onboard footage (10th – 1st in 2 laps) here:

  • Round 3: Snetterton

Qualified 2nd overall despite the Audi RS3 TCR on Pole Position having a huge power advantage.

Qualifying lap (from 2:23):

Won Race 1:

2nd in Race 2 behind RS3 and the brake pedal going progressively lower towards the floor (you can check out the power differential at 5:50 or watch the whole race here):

  • Round 4: Oulton Park

Qualified 2nd (after much more powerful TCR car).

Finished 2nd in both races, behind same car.

  • Round 5: Donington Park

Darkside Developments decided, quite understandably, to pull out of the championship due to the performance differential between our car and one of our championship rivals.

Team HARD kindly stepped in and offered to let Adam drive one of their VW Golfs. It was very under powered, but handled extremely well.

Qualifying was wet and Adam took Pole Position.

In Superpole, we didn’t have the speed to keep the P1, but still placed 2nd.

Unfortunately for us, both races were dry but we managed to finish 4th and 5th overall in the much less powerful Golf. Exactly as intended for the collection of points towards the Championship!

Its not known which car Adam will be driving in for the final race at Brands Hatch, but we go in to it leading the Championship by 33 points.

It will likely be very close.

  • Round 6: Brands Hatch

We switched to a new car again for the final round (NJM Seat Supercopa).

We had a broken fuel pump in Super Pole, which meant we could not set a time and so started 10th. Heartbreakingly, the car then failed on circuit due to a fuse failing while we were running 2nd, costing us the championship. You can see the race here:

In the 2nd race we started last and made it up to 3rd despite having intermittent power issues and the DSG gearbox changing down gears randomly. You can watch the race here:

Final result: 2nd in the championship
